This will allow students that currently live too far away from Phulkharka to attend the college. The students will receive their board and lodging in return for working on farm. We hope that this will provide a catalyst in making the agricultural system in the area more sustainable by reducing reliance on subsistence rice farming. Solar power and a biogas cooking system should reduce reliance on firewood with all the benefits of reducing soil erosion and managing flood risks in the catchment.
