Dadakharka is by far the most disadvantaged of the local communities. It is composed of a very different tribal group experiencing a much greater degree of poverty. School attendance and literacy rates are lower and problems experienced by the community are immense. Although we have already provided one new classroom, the other buildings are disintegrating. They have mud floors which are unusable in the monsoon season and little in the way of furniture and equipment. We hope to work with the community to provide the much needed buildings and equipment.
After the earthquake
All the school buildings have been destroyed and the children are being taught in temporary classrooms. we have provided some furniture and white boards to allow this to take place.
We have set the wheels in motion to build the new school. For more details see our blog.
