Today, we sadly said farewell to Manisha our Health Promotion Officer

She has been an absolute star over the last 2 years.
Manisha has made a huge difference to the community in Gumdi. She has investigated the reasons for children underperforming and dropping out of School, provided health education lessons, run health and dental camps, trained teachers to deliver health education and during Covid , gave Covid awareness sessions and provided much needed PPE. Many thanks Manisha, there couldn’t have been a better person for the job.
Moin, our teacher trainer, has been running sessions for teachers at Tamang Kharka and its primary feeder schools.
We have just opened 2 new After School Clubs
Following the success of our 4 existing After Schools , we have been asked by several communities to extend the project. This week we have opened our 5th and 6th After School , one at Dhandakharka, the school that KASIN provided the funds to rebuild after the earthquake, and another at Dansing

We have found that this is one of the most cost effective ways of promoting education and reducing dropout in these communities. It costs around £1,000/yr to provide 2 teachers, 6 days a week 2 or 3 hours a day. Children’s grades have hugely improved in the mainstream schools that they attend.
